Through The Looking Glass

March 21, 2013

I have many things on my favorite list. It seems like the list keeps growing. I already have a fondness for old chippy tables. In case you did not already know that. But I also LOVE this old barn door of mine. It has come along way and changes quite often. I came across this old vintage mirror. It was love at first site! I love the curved shape and the old wavy glass. Some chips and a bit of crazing it seems perfect for this farmhouse kitchen. I get lots of questions about where I found  this French bottle rack. I found mine on Maison decor you can find that shop HERE Although currently she does not have any in stock. You can also find them at decor steals HERE WHEN they have them featured for the day. If you sign up through email they ... View Post

Friendship And A Coffee Table

March 17, 2013

Yesterday was an amazing day! I am sure you remember I mentioned  Jennifer Rizzo organized a Midwest meet up. Yesterday was the day! We met at Room 363  a beautiful shop owned by Mark Norkaitis. We ate a light breakfast and mingled. Shopped a bit....had lunch..... met at paper source for a card craft. Thank you Sharon Rexford for organizing that! Wish I had taken better photos. The room was a bit tight and hard to shoot photos. I was thrilled to have met some many other bloggers. But I have to admit there were two ladies I was really excited to finally meet. I have been following there blogs and when I found out they were going to be there I almost fell off my chair!! Seriously!!!! Karianne of Thistlewood Farm  and Heather from  At the Picket ... Painting A Paper Mache Trunk

March 13, 2013

White out junking a week ago I came across an old trunk. It looked as though someone had added paper mache to it many years ago. I knew with the texture it had potential. I decided to paint it with Miss Mustard Seed milk paint linen. I was hoping it would chip off a bit more to add more texture. But it did not flake off like I hoped it would. Still it sanded very nicely and because of the texture on this piece I still got the result I wanted. I added a graphic from the Graphic Fairy . It was a bit tricky on this piece as it is not even. I wanted it to look as though it was always there. I love that it is a bit faded .....not perfect. If you are looking for perfection then I would not do the citra-solv method. The lavender was a recent ... View Post

French Grain Sack Table

March 12, 2013

I have been experimenting with different looks and techniques as I have been getting ready for the vintage market. I don't like doing the same thing on every piece. Each one is different and unique. I just do what strikes my fancy. I decided to do a French grain sack table. This technique is nothing new I have seen it before but never tried it myself. I  painted the table with  Annie Sloan French linen. A stripe was added using TAPE  and  deco art paint in uniform blue. No ruler was used to make sure the tape was straight  I  just eyeballed it I did not want it to look perfect. I added a French graphic from the graphic fairy using the citra solv technique. Before waxing it I sprayed a clear sealer to prevent the graphic from smearing ... View Post

A Simple Easter Spring Centerpiece

March 10, 2013

I have been spending much of my time getting ready for the Vintage Market . My creative space aka studio looks like a tornado hit it. And no I won't be sharing any photos. I will be sharing some of my finished pieces soon. But today I thought I would share my cloche in my dining room. First let me say I cannot believe Easter is three weeks away. Normally I host Easter dinner but this year with the market I have no time to prepare for a dinner. I still want to honor Easter. Even though I don't have lots of Easter decor I prefer to keep it neutral for spring. I wanted to share this. I decided to use that same birdcage I had on my mantle for my dining room table. Those sweet little lambs are finds I bought many years ago. I added that pretty rosary ... View Post

How To Paint A Chair With Chalk Paint

March 9, 2013

Today I wanted to share how to paint a chair with chalk paint. Recently I found this amazing chair at Habitat for humanity, I knew when I spotted this chair,it  would be perfect for this project. I knew I could bring this a new life. You see it was stuck in the 80's. The color was all wrong. I painted this whole chair fabric and all with Annie Sloan old white. Yep you heard that right.Even the fabric was painted. Not my original idea.I heard this from Amy at Maison decor She shared that you can paint on fabric. I have wanted to try this and never had an opportunity until now. After painting this with old white I thought it needed something more. Added a graphic from The Graphic Fairy . It was not easy to do on such a movable surface. But it worked! It is a bit faded and I ... View Post

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
