A Ladder

A Ladder

March 27, 2018

I've  been searching for a ladder for my kitchen. Not to display fabric on but one to place on top of my two cabinets. Finding the perfect size ladder wasn't easy. I needed the right size and I finally found one while shopping at a garage sale. Garage sales and thrift shops are my two favorite places to find unique and affordable pieces. I'm loving how this ladder joins my cabinets together. I decided to take the cabinet doors off to give it more of an open feel and farmhouse look.   My light fixture was originally a brass fixture with glass inserts. I found it at a thrift store for $10.00. I took all the glass off spray painted it and added a little bling. To make the holders look like candles I added some hot glue drips and antiqued each of them.  I love the look of ... View Post

DIY Repurposed Jewelry Holder

DIY Repurposed Jewelry Holder

March 18, 2018

Years ago I came across this piece, I believe it's called a justice scale. All of the hanging crystals and crystal scales have been taken off. I knew that someday I would repurpose this piece, and recently the idea to repurpose this into a jewelry holder came to mind. Sorry it's a bit blurry, my camera was acting up and I did not realize how blurry this photo was until after I completed this project. You can see behind this scale I have a vintage chippy salvage piece. I decided to turn this justice scale into a jewelry holder. First thing that I needed to do was cut the ends off of this chippy salvage piece, because it was a bit too long. Here's my fancy saw, yeah....I don't have an electric saw, I know I can't believe I am still using this, but hey it works! So I cut ... View Post

Springtime Table and Nature

Springtime Table and Nature

March 12, 2018

Simple Spring Decorating Ideas Decorating for seasons doesn't have to be complicated. I think it's always best to keep things simple. My decor is pretty neutral with some splashes of color. Adding elements from nature is always a must! So I thought I would share my spring table in our kitchen. Just an old farmhouse tote. I found that little watering can on a recently while out shopping. And of course I love adding fresh flowers.A bunch found at the market. I cannot wait to pick flowers out of my own garden. But today it is snowing.....AGAIN! This is a real bird nest. And those are real eggs. Someone was throwing this bird nest out. I rescued it gave it a couple coats of clear varnish to keep it from falling apart. Those eggs were found at a ... View Post

Changes In The Dining Room

Changes In The Dining Room

March 6, 2018

I changed things around in my dining room  for my latest find. And I added a sweet vintage veil I found yesterday to my vintage dress form. Actually I found a vintage wedding dress  and a veil. I have no idea what I will do with a vintage wedding dress but it's so pretty and the price was right. The veil is tattered and torn  and has darkened with age. It has that tea stained look that we all like to achieve but it happened naturally due to it's age. Love the beautiful flowers on this veil too. So dainty and delicate. The white flowers on the veil are not fabric flowers but some sort of soft plastic. I am drying those roses, they are pinned on with a vintage pearl pin. I found that candelabra a few months ago, love this sweet corner vignette. Sort of has a Jeanne d' Arc ... View Post
