HOW TO MOVE OUT OF STATE Recently I shared this post on Why We Moved To Florida. Since writing that post I've received numerous questions on how to move out of state and what the process was. Today I'm going to break down each stage of how we moved out of state starting from the beginning. This is going to a long post. But I want to give you as much information as I can. I'm not an expert but I'm sharing our experience. Research Before you can start planning your move sit down with a piece of paper and pen and write down all of the reasons you're thinking of moving to another state. Then write down why you love where you live. If you have more reasons to leave then your ready for your move. Look for locations (states) and areas (towns) that you would like to move too. WHY WE MOVED TO FLORIDA
WHY WE MOVED TO FLORIDA I don't even know where to being writing this post. But it's been a long time coming. For many years I've dreamed about living in Florida. You're probably wondering why Florida? Many years ago my husband and I took a trip to visit his sister in Florida and I was hooked! It felt like home to me I don't know why. It would be many years later that I'd convince my husband that we needed to make this move. My reasons for wanting to move to Florida. #1 Winter I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. The long cold, grey endless winters got to me. I was dealing with SAD (seasonal affective disorder). Sometimes we would have a month of no sun. It really affected my mood and well being. Getting around in the winter was no picnic either. Driving in ... View Post

How To Hem Curtains Without Sewing
My daughter's room is really starting to come along. In case you missed it, I'm transforming my daughter's bedroom, by giving it an update. It started out with an idea, and then I found window valences that were a beautiful turquoise. The color of the valances gave me the inspiration for my design of the room. I found a set of six panels for 4.99 at the thrift store, but once I hung them up on my wall I noticed that they were way too long. Both windows in her room are totally different sizes. One is large and wide, the other is small. To balance the windows I first needed to re-hang the rods so they were even, making the windows look like the same height. Then, it was time to hem these. But, I don't have a sewing machine. I know, I need to get one already! I knew that I had ... View Post
Screened Porch Reveal
Well, I feel like I have been talking about my screened porch reveal forever, but today is the day I finally share my finished screened porch. Let's take another look back at what the porch looked like a year ago. Last year I was unable to paint the floors, so for my daughters eighth grade graduation party last year, I resorted to this outdoor rug I found. But I was beyond thrilled when I could finally paint the floors. Yeah, I totally love my floors. This was a lot of work, but so worth it for sure! Next, I added my furniture pieces to the room, and that pop of color started showing up in my room. But my room was not complete. I needed something to keep the sun out of our eyes at certain times of the day, and also, I needed a little privacy at times too. We are not ... View Post
Building A Screen Porch The Beginning Stages
Last fall we started the beginning stages of building a screen porch. In our past homes we always had a patio, and rarely ever used it. When we moved into our present home I told my husband that I did not want a patio,I would rather wait and save up to build a screen porch. These photos are not very pretty, and it's the reason I rarely ever shared my backyard. Yes this is the back of our home, that little stoop was our porch for seven years! We used to enjoy sitting on our front porch when my daughter was small. But we could never sit out for long because of the mosquitoes and yellow jackets that would fly around and annoy us. Ah that is part of living in the midwest! When we started our research for a builder we had an idea of what we wanted. We wanted to build a room that we ... View Post
