Shabby Chic Memo Board

September 4, 2014

While out shopping recently I saw one of those cute memo boards,I am sure you have seen it a frame with chicken wire. When I saw it a light bulb went off in my head and I started thinking about a shabby chic memo board. I started looking a some of the frames I have saved and came across one that I thought would work perfectly. This is the frame I had on my mantle recently before I changed things around. It is nice and large and is quite heavy. I went through my basket of scrap fabrics and found a two pretty patterns. One is just a soft pink,I guess that's not a pattern and the other has sweet petite rose's. Both are from Rachel Ashwell's  Simply Shabby Chic line. I pulled out my fabric shears and started making small cuts into the fabric, then I ripped off the pieces. I wanted a ... View Post

A Few Changes And Heritage Lace

September 3, 2014

Let's go back a little bit,you remember that I shared a few changes on my mantle, well that mirror change lead me not only to a change on the mantle in my dining room but also a few other changes, which includes Heritage Lace. I found some fabric a few months ago and I decided to use it to recover my dining room chairs. These next photos show the fabric I had on previously. This is the new fabric,a soft creamy color with turquoise green and blue colors. It's a lovely mix that is a little faded and looks old. My chair is not dirty, but when I painted this I used dark wax to make it look old and aged. This is such an easy way to change a room. I really need to share this on a tutorial video. I know many of  you may know how to  recover a chair, but my Mom was just asking me how to ... View Post

After the long weekend I am still trying to play catch up!My family and I went away for the weekend for a little relaxation, and celebrated my birthday. Today I started working on a project hoping to share it tonight. But I ran out of time trying to edit my photos. So today I am just going to share a sneak peek at a few changes. One is that mirror that I had in my family room, the one that was too big is now in it's new location. And second is this change. Isn't this fabric gorgeous! A thrifty find a few months ago and I finally was able to use it. I recovered my dining room chairs with it,can't wait to share the reveal with you all tomorrow! Joining: Savvy Southern Style ... Vintage Mirror

August 26, 2014

After playing around with my mantle yesterday I decided on using my vintage mirror and my gate. I love the simplicity and look of this room now. Because the look I am going for in my home is a simpler look. I have been putting lots of things away, some will be up for sale in the shop...opening next week! I added that lace to my fireplace opening..... it's a temporarily fix until I figure out what else I can do. But I think it looks nicer than my black hole....which is what my fireplace looks like all taped up. By the way I LOVE my posts on my mantle. It gives my builders grade mantle some character and charm!  I took the blue rug and blue table out of this room. Instead I added one of my favorite chippy farmhouse tables to that corner. I am not loving my sofa and chair set  in ... View Post

Changing My Mantle

August 25, 2014

I have been busy rearranging and changing my mantle, today I decided I would share my thought process.  Changing things on my mantle always drives me nuts! I did have several mirrors layered with a large frame. I did like this look but I am going for a simpler look and it felt like I had too much going on.  All of this came off first and then I  thought ,hey why not add my mirror that was in my bedroom. You know the mirror I had leaning on my wall. Yes this room looks totally different now. Light bulb moment....let's paint that mirror white and hang it over my mantle in my family room. Sounds like a good idea right? Okay, I added this on my mantle, and I was not planning on keeping those hurricane lamps or that bucket. Oh I think it looks nice....hmmm but wait.... On ... View Post

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
