Mantel Party

December 8, 2014

I am thrilled to be a part of the holiday mantle tour. Our fireplace mantel in the family room is our main focus. It is off to the side but it still makes quite a statement when you walk into the room. I love the smell of fresh greens in my home this time of the year. We do have artificial trees, but I splurge a little of fresh greens. This year I collaborated with Lynch Creek Farms and was given this amazing garland. My mantel is quite small so I can't go crazy with too many pieces on it. But it's okay because I really do like to keep things pretty simple. And I don't like changing everything in my home either just for the holiday season. I just changed my mantle a few months ago and still love the mirror and gate. So instead of taking everything down I decided to keep those ... View Post

Easy To Make Gift Ideas

December 7, 2014

Today I wanted to show you a few easy to make gift ideas. If you are like me you are probably on a budget, and this time of the year it can be tricky when you are buying gifts for friends and family. Sometimes it can get pretty stressful! The next time your out treasure hunting keep your eyes open for pretty dishes and candle sticks. Try to think outside of the box when you are looking, and think about how pieces can be used in more than one way. Using a candle stick along with a small bread plate and salad plate I created this. (To glue simply find a waterproof glue that adheres to glass, and glue together. Since I am just sharing different ideas I did not glue mine.) This can be used as a dessert dish,or as a jewelry stand,or you could even place a chunky candle on the top and add ... View Post

Home For The Holidays Tour

December 5, 2014

I am thrilled to be a part of the Home for the holidays tour! For the past three years I have enjoyed a tree in our Kitchen. I am blessed to have the room in our kitchen for a decent size tree. A few years ago I used a trunk as a tree skirt, last year I used a galvanized bucket for a tree skirt. This year I decided to use two drawers from my old dresser that is not being used. I just added a little shawl to cover up the stand. This is my Shabby Chic tree, using torn pieces from a Rachel Ashwell sheet I tied together for the garland. And I also took some of those torn pieces and tied them on the branches. Ornaments were made using vintage wall paper and cut out in Angel wing shapes. Then sprinkled with German glass glitter. I love how simple this is and yet so elegant. On my ... View Post

Welcome Home Tour

December 4, 2014

So happy to have you over today for the Welcome Home Tour. I am thrilled that you are here! Recently I made a few changes to my dining room including adding a little blue. I had that ice cream bucket that's on the center of my table in my shop. But when it didn't sell I knew it would work perfectly as a centerpiece with fresh greens. This would probably be too tall for as a centerpiece if I was hosting a dinner, but for everyday it looks so pretty! I love my Italian candlesticks,so even though I have had these on my table for several months,I am keeping them here for Christmas too! I have had that tinsel tree for many years. Last year I made the ornaments that adorn my tree. Although last year I had these ornaments on my kitchen tree last year. On my mantle I added a star ... View Post

Christmas In The Country Home Tour

December 3, 2014

Hi and welcome to our home,I am thrilled to be a part of the Christmas In The Country Home Tour! I along with 40 other bloggers are opening up our homes to share with you our Holiday decorated homes. I am so glad you could stop by today! Now as many of you know, well maybe you don't all know but I started my decorating a little early.  And not only that but I decided to make some of my own ornaments and a few tree skirts this year too! The star ornaments on this tree were made from silver poster board, and sprinkled with German glass glitter, and the paper banner was made from vintage music roll paper. The tree skirt is a no sew tree skirt made from painters canvas and lace trim. You can read about the German Glitter Ornaments HERE,the Tree No Sew Tree Skirt HERE,and the Paper Banner ... View Post

What Is Shabby Chic Style

December 2, 2014

Let's talk about  Shabby Chic style, and what it really is. You may have noticed I have been leaning more towards Shabby Chic style than any other style. I wanted to explain what Shabby Chic style is. (Make sure to pick up Rachel Ashwell's new book!) Rachel uses lots of fresh flowers in her home, they make beautiful accents and really bring life to a room. She does not add clutter but uses pieces that are not only decorative but useful. Like vintage plates or pitchers. Both look beautiful on a table but can also look lovely alone or repurposed. A small plate can be a use for a candle to catch the drips. A pitcher is wonderful to use for flowers or utensils. Rachel also uses furniture pieces that have that original chippy paint and patina. Each piece unique. I have been ... View Post

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
