Jumpstart To A Healthier You!

January 3, 2016

Jumpstart To A Healthier You! So how did I finally lose the weight? As any women over 40 knows, losing weight is not easy! I thought I was eating healthy as a vegetarian, and actually I sort of was. But those carbs from the beans were putting on weight. I was also eating sugar because I was addicted to it! The program that I used for losing weight is called Whole30. When I first started reading about the foods I had to give up eating I didn't think I could do it. But I figured it was only for a month. So for 30 days I gave up sugar, salt (yes there are traces of sugar in salt). I also gave up dairy, breads, pastas, grains, alcohol, the list is much bigger, but you get the idea. Giving up sugar was hard to do but you are allowed some fruits. I thought why not and I gave it a try. With ... View Post

5 Of The Best Ways To Add Patina

December 27, 2015

This morning I woke up and made a pot of coffee. It's the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning. Well, maybe not the first thing, but it's one of the first things that I do. After drinking a cup of coffee, halfway through my first cup, I got up and added more coffee to my cup. Yeah, it's one of those kind of days. Just keep that coffee coming ;-) As I was sitting enjoying my coffee, I started to thinking about all the projects I've shared this year. So, I thought it would be fun to look back on 5 of the best ways to add patina. I'm always tying new techniques and I'm never really sure of the results. You are all the first to see what ever I come up with. Oh, before I share 5 of the best ways to add patina, I thought I would share what I've been up too. Well, let's ... View Post

Merry Christmas And Thank You!

December 23, 2015

Well, here we are just a few days away from Christmas. Let me share what we will be doing on Christmas Eve. My family and I will be heading to our old neighborhood and church. One thing that I really miss about living in our previous home, is our church. We've never found a church that's made me feel at home as our previous church. I have a long history of going to church there. I was involved with volunteering, and my daughter also attended her early school years there. And before we were married, my husband was baptized in that church, we were married in that church and my daughter was also baptized in that church. Last year we attended Christmas Eve service there and I got a bit overwhelmed. I think it's being with my family, in that church that holds so many memories for ... View Post

Fun And Easy DIY Crafts

December 15, 2015

I seriously cannot believe that we are ending another year! Every year I say the same thing, where did the year go?! Is it because I'm getting older? You aren't required to answer that question ;-) So, as the year is winding down, and we prepare for Christmas, I thought it would be fun to look back and share some of my favorite fun and easy DIY crafts that I've shared on the blog this year. Okay, I know that in the past I've shared that I am not a crafty person. You're probably laughing hysterically at that now.....maybe not hysterically. Anyway, I really got my craft on this year! It was a challenge to think of fun and easy DIY craft ideas, I had to think outside of the box. Seriously, I really had to think outside of the box. So where did my inspiration come from? Thrift ... How To Distress Furniture Using Stain And Paint

December 13, 2015

So times I've come across a piece of furniture or an accent piece that is structurally in great shape, but it's new. I don't like new pieces, I prefer older pieces, because of the patina. Several months ago, while thrift shopping I found this tote, and I knew I could transform it easily. Let me show you how to distress furniture using stain and paint. This piece isn't furniture, but a cool garden or tool tote. I actually love using these totes as a centerpiece for my table. I will change it out by adding a few ball jars, and some flowers, or adding pretty napkins and plates, and well you get the idea. These totes are great pieces to have, they are multi-purpose. If I want this piece to really look old, I need to add a base to it. The base cannot be paint. Why? Because if I ... View Post

Christmas Kitchen Decorating Ideas

December 9, 2015

I've been sharing sneak peeks of my kitchen decked out for Christmas, and today is the reveal. I will be sharing a full home tour in a few days. I want to share simple Christmas kitchen decorating ideas. Decorating for the holidays doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. I'm blessed to have a large kitchen, so once again I've added a tree to the corner of the room. For the past few years I've done something a little different for a my kitchen tree skirt, but this year, I couldn't find what I was looking for. And what was I looking for? Honestly I have no idea, but I wanted to do something different, but I just couldn't come up with anything. I did add this tree to a small table, but it looked out of balance. See, it's all wrong! So, crazy silly me, all by myself, ... View Post

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
