Distress Furniture With Vinegar Tutorial

April 10, 2016

How to distress furniture with vinegar step by step One of my most asked questions is how to distress furniture with vinegar. I shared this technique of using vinegar to distress furniture a few years ago. Since sharing this little secret, I've gotten  so many questions about it.  Using vinegar to distress furniture is so easy to do and really looks authentic! (This post contains affiliate links, please see disclosure policy)   I love the fact that I don't need to sand when I distress furniture with vinegar. I'm lucky that I've found so many authentic vintage pieces with chippy patina. But they're hard to find, and they can be expensive. I found this table at a thrift shop for under $10.00! It's a great little piece, and very sturdy. But there's nothing special about it. I'm going ... View Post

Don't pass up that piece of furniture just because it has a flaw. This table repair was simple cheap and easy to do!

Table Repair Simple Cheap And Easy To Do

April 10, 2016

Table Repair Simple Cheap And Easy To Do I knew that this flaw would be a simple table repair. Let me tell you the story behind this table first. The other day I met up with a good friend for lunch and after lunch we walked into a resale shop, one that she owned for many years until she retired. Well, I spotted a little table that I thought would work great in my bedroom. The price was right, but as I was showing the table to my friend she told me that she had a table very similar, and she said that I could just have it. What...wait...what??? Did my friend say free? Remember, I'm el cheapo ;-) We swung by her house, I took a look at it and said, yep, I'll take it, no need to convince me. Seriously, like I'm going to pass up a free French provincial piece of furniture? Ah, no way Jose ! ... View Post

Here's a simple and cheap way of reupholstering a thrift shop stool. This cost me ZERO dollars to do!

Reupholstering This Thrift Shop Stool

April 5, 2016

Reupholstering This Thrift Shop Stool This thrifty find is going to get an update as I'm reupholstering this stool. A few years ago my style was farmhouse/industrial, I fell hard for old typewriters, metal lamps, globes, and well you get the idea. I've sold most of those pieces as I've fallen hard for my shabby romantic style. A few years ago I stumbled onto this stool, It's an old stool from an art class. I know this because on the bottom it's stamped with the high school name, and written in marker it says "Art Class". At the time I purchased this I loved the patina on the stool and the legs were worn and perfectly grey. I was using this stool in my studio, but for over a year it's been sitting all alone and it's not been used. That sounds so sad doesn't it. Today was the ... View Post

Distressing Using Vaseline VS Vinegar

April 4, 2016

Distressing Using Vaseline I decided to try a new technique, distressing using Vaseline. It's using Vaseline to distress furniture. I was intrigued by this technique of distressing using Vaseline, and wondered how it would work. As you know I love using vinegar and water to distress furniture, you can read about that HERE. But, it's always fun trying new and different techniques. I use many distressing techniques, and sometimes on one piece of furniture I'll use two or three different techniques. So, what is distressing with Vaseline? Well, you apply Vaseline to the edges of a piece you have not get painted then you apply the paint. Here, let me show you on this piece. This piece is pretty rustic, but I thought it would be fun to try it on a rustic ... View Post

Shabby Style Can Add Charm

April 3, 2016

Shabby Style Can Add Charm I've always been drawn to chippy pieces, with that perfectly shabby patina, I guess that's why I fell in love with shabby style. It's a very comfortable and laid back look that's really easy to add to your home. This post contains affiliate links, please read  disclosure policy. I'm going to be honest, years ago I fell in love with shabby style even before it was called shabby , and I guess that really describes what I love. Shabby = old, worn, with patina, still usable. And even though old, is fully of charm. So how did I pull my home together with this look? Well recently I shared what my kitchen looked like, you can read that HERE. And my living room, you can read that HERE. But how did I start acquiring pieces, what was I looking for and ... View Post

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
