Adding an Old Door

September 24, 2012

Well I am sure you know how much I love old doors.I think I have mentioned this a few times. And shared my favorite doors HERE and HERE.
I moved my farmhouse door to my kitchen and since then have not been happy with the way it left a bare spot in my family room corner.I have tried different things. But I really loved that door there. It added height and interest.
On Friday it was a rainy day but I did get to a few garage sales. I scored!!! I found an old door!

I know an old yellow door nothing special. It was not even chippy. But I really loved the hardware and I knew I could make it special.

Here it is the after. I painted this with a coat of Annie Sloan duck egg blue and a coat of old white.I sanded it down a bit to show the duck egg blue and a little bit of the yellow.
I found that old etched mirror last week at a thrift store.

After taking these photos I decided to change this a bit.
I put a different stool here and added my French heirloom pumpkin.

I think this looks better for fall.Just a pumpkin on a stool.I love the shape of these French heirloom pumpkins. This is a “Cinderella” pumpkin.I have been told these are quite tasty.I have not tried one but I may!

I love finding these old doors. So many fun things to do with these! After I added this mirror I thought wouldn’t this be cool as a vanity? Add a little table in front just that width pull that mirror down an little more to make it the right sitting height.Or how about a bench in front.Lean the door against the wall add a bench in front of it.How cute would that be in a front entrance. This would make a pretty cool table too.Or hang it from a ceiling! Now you know why I am always on the hunt for these! If you see one don’t second guess!! Remember you can always change the paint! Milk paint would be great on this too…..lots of chips!

I love old doors too. It looks great now, and yes there are so many possibilities. I had to laugh, because my front door is like a mustard yellow, and I’m planning to change the color.

Crazy about your door… it’s just perfect.

The Hubbs planted some of those pumpkins this year… they’re getting really big, but haven’t turned orange yet. Gosh, they’d better hurry up. I’m in the fallish mood.

    Your blog is darling.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
