This is such a busy time of the summer for us.My daughter starts school next week.I can't believe that! This week more family time and a concert are planned.Lots of school shopping to do too. Today I wanted to share my mantle.It normally looks like a black hole.In the summer I like to keep it covered.I painted this head/foot board and brought it to my booth.I had second thoughts and brought it home to place in front of my fireplace.I painted this using a few different blues to give it a French blue color that I wanted.I added patina from Annie sloan dark wax.Pages from a vintage French book adorn the front of this. Dog Days of Summer
It is finally here.We are at the homestretch of our summer break.My daughter heads back to school on August 16th.Where has the summer gone? I am in the middle of a project.But today it is all about us.Spending our last summer vacation time together.Today we are going to our last garage sales together.This will be the last Friday for that.And maybe some antique shops too.I asked my daughter what she wanted to do and that is what she requested.So for today no projects.I have nothing to share as far as that.But yesterday I was surprise with these flowers from Mr. Cottage.And also some wonderful handmade soap that I won from a giveaway onWhimsical Perspective Love these flowers.So pretty and bright.And this wonderful soap and lotion.The soap and lotion have my favorite fragrance Lavender.I ... Decorating With Ladders
I have been searching for a ladder for my kitchen.Not to display fabric on.But to place on top of my two cabinets.Oh I love using them for displaying fabric.But I already have two of those.Finding a ladder was not easy.I needed the right size.And I finally found one. Love how this joins my two cabinets together.Ignore the inner cabinets.I still have not finished that.I will when my daughter goes back to school. See that old milk cooler/tin? I added these stick on letters and numbers.Sanded them down and added some antiquing. My light fixture was originally a brass fixture with glass inserts.I took all the glass off spray painted it and added a little bling.Cost was 10.00.I had to shorten it a bit too.
