Venus de Milo
I told you I have been lucky finding some unique treasures while out thrift shopping. And this Venus de Milo statue is one of my new found finds. I usually am not attracted to pieces like this. But it was in poor shape. It has several chips and cracks I guess that is why I fell for it. Imperfections are perfection to me. I was not happy with the color though so I decided to paint over it with some white paint I had already on hand.I was not trying to hide any imperfections but it was dull and dirty looking. It needed a bit of freshening up! As I said I normally do not like statues like this. But thought it would add a bit of charm to my summer mantle. Of course I had to add some fresh roses from my garden. Are you sick of seeing roses? I personally never get tired of ... View Post
New Bedding
Whenever I am out thrift shopping I always make sure to check out the linens especially the bedding. I have been surprised on many occasions to find vintage linens or just pretty fabrics. Very recently I found a beautiful bedding set that I thought would look perfect in my daughters room. The set was in new condition and came as a comforter with a bed skirt and two pillow shams for 7.00. On one side the fabric has large pink roses and stripes. But I fell in love with the inner side with the petite pink roses and soft teal color. I actually like the pillow shams shown the opposite way too with the ties showing. It has a prairie look to it.Soft and feminine perfect for my daughters room. I knew when she was this she would love it and I was right! As you can ... View Post
Cappuccino
Well I bet when you heard the word cappuccino you thought I would be sharing a delicious Italian caffeinated drink. I thought about that too when I saw this on Kathleen's blog Faded Charm. Kathleen has such an eye for everything vintage I just adore her style! She recently had a giveaway to win a set of dishes from pfaltzgraff in the color cappuccino. I saw here beautifully photographed tablescape and was hoping I would win. While I was on vacation ( I just recently returned I promise I will share soon) I checked my email and received one from Kathleen telling me that I had won! I thought I would put my own tablescape together to show how pretty these dishes are. Whether you are setting a table for a fancy dinner ,a luncheon or everyday these dishes look ... View Post
Dairy Farm
I bet this dairy farm sign looks familiar.I painted this for the vintage market a few months back.It did not sell so I brought it home.It was meant to come back home with me because I now have the perfect spot for it. This is a hard shot to do because this sign is up high. I added this to my laundry room above my washer and dryer. I have a front load set that is also on pedestals. That is one of the reasons I don't have cabinets above the washer and dryer.I would never be able to reach anything above. Adding a shelf was not an option either. If you have a front loader washer you know how much this shakes around.Adding a shelf and pretty things that could fall and break is also not an option. But I needed something to fill in the void on this wall. And still after I ... View Post
Making Pizza Margherita
Today I thought I would share one of my family's favorite pizza recipes and that is pizza margherita. I was introduced to this pizza years ago by my brother in law. This is my version as he uses his own favorite flour. And I might add that this is one of my daughters favorite meals to make. This is the first time though that I am letting her cut all the ingredients herself! For my version of pizza margherita you will need to following ingredients.
