Vodka Paperwhites And A Christmas Tree

November 21, 2013

Vodka paperwhites and a Christmas tree.

Hmm sort of sounds like an introduction to a joke but this is actually a really good tip!

It does not involve a Christmas tree, more on that in a bit.

My Mom  shared this tip with me.

She was out shopping for her paperwhite bulbs when the lady at the nursery shared this tip with her.

The trick is to add  alcohol that has 40%  such as vodka, gin or rum.

Don’t add beer or wine because there is too much sugar.

You should do this as you are planting them.

1 part alcohol to 7 parts water to a gravel container.

I may still try this even though mine are already planted.

I will let you know what happens.

This will keep the paperwhites from growing so tall and prevent them from tipping.

I shared my thrift shop Christmas tree, here is a few photos of it at night!

This tree really comes to life at night with the lights.

I did photograph it with the lights when I shared it the other day,but on a sunny day you don’t really see the lights.

I love this tree!

Tomorrow I am going to start picking up my fresh Christmas greens for my home.

I am so excited that the construction crew is here today starting our back screened in porch!

Looking forward to using it in the spring and summer months,we have waited a long time for this!

With the paper whites, we don’t drink alcoholic beverages. Can regular alcohol (rubbing) be used instead?

You’re right, lights really add so much to a tree when they’re on. Your tree is lovely.. love the red! I can’t wait to put our tree up. Hopefully it happens this weekend.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
