I Have Been Busy And Other Ramblings

July 6, 2015

I have been really busy the last couple of weeks.

But I have done zip around my house!

Well I have cleaned my house, but nothing as far as projects until yesterday.

Here’s why I have been busy and other ramblings!

I decided to take a week off of blogging, then the following week my husband took a week off of work that I sort of forgot about.

We had no trips planned, but we did have a day in Chicago planned.

Back in December my husband purchased tickets to see U2 at the United Center.

And as luck would have it, he won tickets for a night stay at a hotel downtown.

We got very lucky with the weather, as most of this summer has been rainy and cold!

I don’t have photos to share of our weekend, unless you follow me on Instagram, then you can see some of the photos there.

It was a fun concert and a beautiful couple of days in the city!

Besides relaxing last week, my husband and I started to tackling a project.

I will share just a little about this, but a blog post with more details will follow soon.

I recently shared my finished screened porch, well it’s not quite finished yet.

You’re probably wondering what else I could be working on.

Are you sitting or standing?

We are replacing all of the screens in our porch.

Yeah, you heard that right.

I am really sick about it, but I had no choice.

Our family cat Tabby Sue (her nickname 😉 )  made lots of holes in the screen, or so we think she did.

One night she was accidentally left on the porch.

We are not sure if she was jumping at the bugs on the screen or if the neighborhood cat was around and they had words between the screen.

Anyway, six of our screens were damaged with many holes.

I could have just replaced those screens, but we decided to change all of the screens with a more durable pet screen.

And yesterday we began our project, it took 4 hours to replace two screens.

This is one of those projects that as you are doing it you start rethinking.

Like, really I needed to change ALL of the screens!

Well, I know when we are done I will be happy, because I am never doing this again!

Like ever!!

My husband and I are going to tackle the rest of the screens next weekend.

I think I discovered why it took so long, and so next weekend should be better.

Fingers crossed!

As I said, I will be sharing more of this when I share my post.

So here is a bit of advice, if you have pets and you are planning a screened in porch, get the pet screen.

Your view may not be as crystal clear, but you will not have to worry about your pets making holes in the screen.

Something we didn’t think we needed to worry about.

We were told these screens were strong enough for a pet, but they are not.

Today I am also starting a project in my bedroom.

Just a few simple changes.

Oh Anne sorry to hear about all the screens. That is a big job to replace them. Hope they will hold up to your kitty. Your bedroom project sounds great can’t wait to see what you are doing. Enjoy the new week ahead. It was nice to see the sunshine and no rain this past week end. Now the rain is back tonight and tomorrow and the cooler temps. This summer is too crazy for us here in Chicago land.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
