A Simple Change

June 10, 2014

I know it may seem like I change things around here allot, but I don’t always like to change everything constantly….really I don’t.

Okay so you don’t believe me well you can see I made a simple change, but most of this has been kept the same.

I love my olive bucket and nothing is prettier than lavender tucked inside one of these buckets.

I am really liking  the way my mantle looks in our dining room, but the crate and logs had to go during the summer months.

About a year ago I bought this beautiful olive bucket from Decor Steals.

simple changes

I have moved it around my home but thought this would be the perfect spot for it,well at least for now.

I also bought that lavender from Decor Steals, and it smells amazing!

The lavender was purchased around the same time as my olive bucket, even after a year the scent is heavenly.

Keeping this really simple,I did not want to change things around much.

olive bucket decor steals

You can see I still have that frame tucked inside my mantle,I love adding pieces that are a little unexpected.

But the top of my mantle remains the same.

I just added some lovely roses I picked up at the market.

And I would say this is life imitating art, wouldn’t you?

The roses on my painting are very similar to the sweet bouquet I picked up at the market.

Do you change things often or do you like to keep things the same for awhile?

I love simplicity and it can’t get much simpler than this.

I love how that looks with your old mantel! I’m a huge fan of lavender in an olive bucket too. And I’m always changing things around my home too. Just can’t help it!

I change things a lot. I work from home and I tweak as I go. Every month or so I do a significant change of something some where. The only thing that stays in the same spot is the bed in the master bedroom. Kingsland and way too big to plop about.
Luv the bucket of lavender… I can only imagine how wonderful it smells.
    Happy today.
    Hugs, Gee

So pretty Anne. I love your olive bucket with the lavender. I picked up one at WalMart awhile back, far from the real thing, but I have a plan for it. My lavender is just now getting color so will take a page from your book and pick some later on. I love your simple design with the fireplace..Happy Tuesday..Judy

Gee I wonder if Walmart still has those buckets? I keep forgetting to look online let alone at store. We go in there, get what we have to get (usually on our SS payday) and go home, too pooped out to look around for anything else.
Is there a specific name to call bucket when I look online? Would love to have some lavender also.
Your mantel and faux fire box are quite pretty. You have such lovely things that you are very good at arranging.
I never know when I’ll change something but usually at least when seasons change or a holiday is upcoming. When I style something like our l/r niche shelves and the shutter shelf it depends on what I feel like doing whenever. If I get a better idea or dig something out of shed it could be anytime. I’m a very spontaneous person.
Drives hubs crazy but oh well he does me sometimes also.
24/7 togetherness can get on my nerves. I also don’t mind being alone. When hubs on road I had to get used to it for weeks on end and nobody around in MT or KY so now I love being alone for days on end. Do some of my best creating when I’m alone. Not that I want hubs gone but a day or two here and there alone would be nice. Happy days

I have that same bucket and couldn’t decide what to fill it with, I think I know now! How many bundles of the lavender did it take to achieve that look?
    Thanks!!!

I suppose I am a creature of “simple habit”. I LOVE your look with the mantel. I can take in the loveliness and NOT be overwhelmed! Sometimes the cottage look, shabby chic, or whatever is just toooo much. This is perfect.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
