Making Changes To A Corner

September 29, 2013

I recently made some changes to my corner of my kitchen.

If you follow me on instagram you saw a sneak peek at this vintage door.

door3

One of my favorite antique shops had this sweet door!

Not only the door but that sconce was part of the deal.

I thought about it for a bit and decided to purchase it.

When I bring new treasures into my home that also means I need to let somethings go.

That included a door that I had previously in my family room.

Not the door that my friend Kris from Junk Chic Cottage gave me.

But the door I found at a garage sale.

That door will be sold in a upscale thrift shop in town.

door2

Don’t you love this sweet hankie hanging on this sconce.

Yes the pearls…and the hankie came with this door.

I loved how she staged it and kept it as is!

I did however add that mirror.

door5

I love the reflection of light a mirror brings into a room.

And this mirror is small enough so it does not cover up all the cool chippy patina that I adore!

Sigh… that rusty door knob……be still my heart!

I decided to add my bench in front of this piece for now.

But that bench will most likely go into our screened in porch once it is complete.

They should start work in a couple of weeks,I am so excited!

This room gets lots of sun I am sure it will not be as bright in here.

But that is okay sometimes it is a little too bright in the late afternoon.

door7

I also added my French market basket to this sweet vignette.

This French market basket has come in handy at the farmers market and also toting it around on trips too!

Mine was purchased from Maria at Dreamy Whites.

Isn’t this patina amazing!

And it takes up less room than my barn door did.

But no worries,I still have my barn door.

For now it is put away.

And my bakers rack is now in the living room.

I will show you soon, but I will say that it looks amazing in that room!

You know how it is you move one thing and that leads to yet another change and another…..

Love my corner of my kitchen.

This corner is probably the most changed spot in my home!

I added my favorite crazed white ironstone pitcher to my scale on my table with my cotton that I purchased from Decor Steals.

And that table covering was found at a thrift shop.

It looks like a quilt but it’s just a faux pattern to look like a quilt.

I loved the colors so it had to come home with me!

A little turquoise and a little pink…just perfect!

Well I think my friend Kris from Junk Chic Cottage rubbed some of her love of vintage doors on to me.

Yes I have always had a fondness for them for quite some time. But it seems I am bringing more of them into my home lately.

Coincidence…..I think not!

Your door looks perfect in the corner with its cute little sconce! I don’t think you can ever go wrong by adding a mirror either. You’ll have lots of room for your extra doors when your screen porch is done!

Anne- I absolutely adore that door and the way you have artistically designed the perfect corner!

Funny my baker’s rack went into my dining/music room recently when I found that antique chippy hutch I put in the kitchen – haven’t showed that either but looks so good in that new space – should share one of these days.

That door of yours is just awesome, I really love it.

I love your doors and Kris’s doors. I keep telling her she needs to put one in the car and drive it out to California.

Great new vignette. I am going to copy the hankie idea. Also like how you used your bench. I made one quite a few years ago. Wish I still had it now, I have no idea whatever happened to it. lol

oh you did perfect with that corner and I love that mirror and sconce Anne! I see some cotton on your table. I have been looking for some branches with cotton but no luck. I am going to take my Mom for a little day trip next week to I know where they grow cotton. Maybe I can get some then. Happy Tuesday….~ Lynn
