In The Bloglight

April 4, 2013

bloglight

Today I am being featured at Hometalk for a feature called “In the bloglight”.

Hometalk is an online community to share your creative ideas for decorating and projects! I am always inspired when I visit. And you meet amazing bloggers and can find new beautiful blogs to visit too!Click HERE to view hometalk.

         THE BEGINNING

I started my blog a little over a year ago.I had stumbled upon a few decorating blogs while reading one of my favorite magazines Romantic homes.

047rosesshabbyfrenchbirdcage

And once I started reading I was hooked.I was so inspired that one day I decided to start a blog.

I enjoy decorating and transforming vintage pieces and knew I wanted to eventually start a business.

When I was thinking of a name I wanted it to not only be a name for my blog but for a business as well.I love white and and lace and my style is a bit cottage hence the name white lace cottage.

030pinkroses

Blogging has turned into a full time job for me.But I really enjoy it!

I also rent space in an antique mall and sell my painted furniture and vintage finds.

043Frenchchair

I am really busy with booth. But they go hand in hand for me as my blog helps promote my business too.

PROJECTS

My first project was Mirror Mirror and the discovery of Annie Sloan chalk paint.I felt like I was so out of it.

So many people were raving about this new paint.I was a little late to the party but decided to try it.

That was the beginning of my home transformation.

That mirror lead to other small pieces of furniture transformations and that lead to the whole entire house being painted ….which then brought me to my kitchen cabinets….which then larger pieces it just snowballed like that.

044farmhousefamilyroom

If you look at the first month of my blog to the third month my whole home was being transformed before my eyes.

To actually see my home in photos was an eye opener.

My home was not a reflection of me and now it is.

WHO READS THIS?

Some of my family read my blog some don’t.I do hear feedback all good from those that do.

I really appreciate the support and love I receive from my wonderful husband and daughter they are my rock!

A NEW FOUND HOBBY

I think my blog has opened up my eyes to a new world of photography.I did not realize how much I really enjoy it.

DSC06692whiteroses

When my daughter was small I would dress her up and take cute photos of her. Some people commented on how beautiful they were. But I never really took it any further until I started my blog.

I still have so much to learn about photography. But the only way to learn is to take lots of photos.

MOST VIEWED POST

One of my most viewed posts was my kitchen transformation.

DSC07272farmhousekitchen

I transformed  my cabinets with Annie Sloan Chalk paint.I  am absolutely in love with how it transformed my kitchen.

They have held up amazingly  too! And yes I do cook in our kitchen. Our kitchen is the most used room in our home.

      WOMEN THAT INSPIRE ME

There are so many other bloggers on hometalk that inspire me it is hard to only pick a few.But if I have to narrow it down I would say Karianne of Thistlewood farm.

Her style is amazing her photography is amazing she is amazing love her to pieces!

She has shared so many awesome projects like her painted floors. What a transformation!

And Courtney from French Country Cottage she has beautiful style.Love her romantic French look.Beautiful photography and beautiful taste too!

Courtney shared a  French  inspired tablecloth she made from painters tarp and some paint. She painted stripes to reveal a French feed sack table cloth!

SCHEDULING POSTS

I really don’t have a schedule for posting.I know I know I probably should.

But I get an idea and I go for it.I should keep a journal of ideas.

But so far they keep flowing and I am just going with the flow.

I try to post 2-3 times a week sometimes it is as much as 4 times.

BLOGS I READ THAT INSPIRE ME

I read many many blogs.I keep discovering more.

So picking a few is very hard for me.But I will share the ones that inspired me to start my blog.

Miss Mustard seed Marian is amazing.I feel like I have so much in common with her.Love all of her projects.

She truly inspired me to start a blog.

If I never read her blog I don’t know if I would. She really is a cheerleader for other blogs.

011roseswhiteironstoneplatter

Dreamy whites is another of my favorites.I adore Maria’s style. Her home is beautiful yet relaxed love that!

Buckets of burlap is another of my favorites.Becky is a sweet as can be.And her style makes you want to come on over for a cup of coffee sit and chat .Her home transformation inspired me.

Maison Decor I watched Amy transform her beautiful home and jump into a business.Wow what a inspiration she is to me!She is one of the most creative and talented women I know! Her painting techniques are truly inspirational!

Jeannie Oliver she is a beautiful soul and an amazing person. Her talent goes way beyond her amazing art.I am truly honored to have taken a few of her online classes.I have learned so much from her.I can go on and on there are so many more blogs I could mention but this would be a long post.

030pinkrosesrosary

I really enjoy reading a mixture of home decor projects or transformations. And I also love reading real life stories.People that share a bit of there life with you I love that!

For me I was kind of going back and fourth with personal posts and DIY. I am going to stick to DIY posts for now.

PERSONAL FEELINGS

I don’t have any regrets of things I wish I knew before blogging.I can’t really think of any.

But I will say this it is so important for women to support other women.

I am always honored and humbled anytime I am featured on a blog or in anyway.

And I am thrilled when I see others accomplish goals they have been working for too.

I love cheering you all on because you all inspire me!

Thank you so much Miriam for inviting me to share a little about myself and my blog!I am so happy to be a part of Hometalk!

Are you ready to be inspired or share your creative ideas? Go on over to Hometalk .

I’ve so enjoyed watching you transform your home to match your personality, I think I’ve been along for the ride from the beginning! So happy for you to be in the spotlight, you are so talented!!

Love your stories and your projects. You have to give me more details on your chalk paint cabinets – I’m almost ready to jump on the bandwagon and I think chalk paint is the way I’m going. I’m just a little nervous still…

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
