I am definitely a summer girl, but one of my favorite scents of the season is the aroma and flavor of cinnamon apple french toast. This truly smells heavenly while making this in your kitchen. I wanted to share this recipe with you,but I have to admit I had to really think about how I make this. When I cook I don't measure,I do when I bake. As I was making this I had to measure so I could share this with you. The recipe is pretty basic as far as French toast. I bought some amazing cinnamon raisin bread from Panera. Cinnamon Raisin French toast with Cinnamon brown sugar apple topping Ingredients: French toast ************ Cinnamon raisin bread sliced thick Two eggs Milk Cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 teaspoon Topping: ********* Three Gala apples peeled and diced 1/2 ... How To Force Paperwhites
I thought I would share how to force paperwhites. These bulbs take 4-6 weeks to blossom. I bought my bulbs a few weeks ago and they are starting to sprout. Although I should wait at little I decided to start mine early. I should have taken them out of the bag they were in,they must not have been ventilated well. I like using white bowls or ironstone pieces from my collection. First add some pebbles,I am using marble nuggets I found at my nursery. Add it to about half way of your container. Add enough water that the water level line is just below the bulbs of the paperwhites. You don't want add too much water because this will rot the bulb. Add the bulbs on top of the rocks and that is it! I place these paperwhites all around my home. Once they begin to root I add them to ... View Post
The Scoop #91
This past weekend my family and I escaped for a day to Wisconsin. We traveled to see Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo who performed at the Crystal Grand Palace theater in the Dells Wisconsin. We all had a blast at the water park and concert. But like all good things it came and went by too fast! Hope you got a chance to see my new sheepskin rug HERE I just wanted to share a change happening to the scoop. Sweet Linsey from The Farmhouse Porch will no longer be hosting of The Scoop weekly party. She wants to share more time working on her blog, her beautiful art and her family. How can you blame her. We will miss Linsey being part of The Scoop. But you can still visit Linsey at The Farmhouse Porch . And you can also visit her Etsy shop The Farmhouse Porch HERE. I hope she will ... View Post
Pottery Barn Sheepskin Rug
Weeks ago I came across a sheepskin rug,it looks like a Pottery Barn sheepskin rug and may very well be from Pottery Barn. I have been drooling wanting one of these rugs since seeing them photographed in one of my favorite magazines Jeanne d'arc. But it was not something I really needed to spend money on right now. And still I kept searching thrift shops and antique shops hoping to find one and finally did! This sheepskin rug was 20.00 found at a thrift shop. Let me say that it may seem like I find something every time I walk into a thrift shop or antique shop. But that could not be farther from the truth. I am out treasure shopping often driving from shop to shop. I can go for weeks or months and not find a single thing. And then there are times that I am there at the right ... View Post
A Chandelier Adds Sparkle To A Room
A chandelier adds sparkle to a room, don't you agree? Ever since I was a child I was always drawn to things with glitz and sparkle. I was also drawn to lip gloss that had that pretty shimmer and shine. It's no wonder that I love adding a little sparkle into every room in my home. I recently shared that I added a chandelier to my bedroom. with my master bedroom make over. You can read about it HERE. I had to use the chandelier from my family room to do this. You can read about that HERE in my fall home tour. I knew I wanted to keep my chandelier in my bedroom and also keep one in my family room. I found this at Hobby Lobby, and if you remember I said I wanted to wait until it went on sale. And this week it did so I picked one up. Over the summer I found an old standing lamp ... View Post
Painting A Leather Chair
This leather chair was found recently. As soon as I saw it I new I would be painting a leather chair. Something I have not painted yet is leather. I did paint a fabric chair that now feels like leather thanks to Annie Sloan paint and a little wax! You can read about that HERE This chair is for our desk in our den. A room I really don't show, because it is a work in progress. This photo was taken with my phone hence it being a little grainy. We had a leather chair in this room already but it was badly ripped, and was much too large for this room. This chair was 10.00 it does have a few small tears but I thought being so cheap maybe I could find a way to salvage it. I am a risk taker I have told you that before, never afraid to try something different I decided to go for it! First ... View Post
