Chic Vintage Find

September 24, 2013

As you know we will be starting construction soon of our screened porch.Recently I came across this chic vintage set of wrought iron chairs and a metal table.
First lets talk about the table.

I forgot to take a photo of the table before, but the color was hunter green.

And it was a thrifty find for 4.99!

The size and shape were just what  I was looking for our screened in porch.

As I was driving home I spotted a set of four vintage wrought iron chairs.

Yes this is what they looked like before.

They are all in great condition.

I love the bit of rust and chippy patina on the metal.

But the cushions were dirty and stained from age.

I tried cleaning them but the dirt would not budge.

I decided to paint them using Annie Sloan Chalk paint in Coco and Old Ochre.

I mixed up the two colors until I got the color I wanted which is similar to chocolate milk or chocolate ice cream.

The table was just spray painted with a satin finish.

Lets recap this deal:

The chairs were 22.50 a piece and the table was 4.99 not bad for a table and chair set!

Although I think I would like to add two more chairs.

I will be looking around for a deal for sure!

Not the best time of the day to take photos of the back of our yard, lots of shadows.

Love this set!

I know it will look amazing in our screened in porch!

For now I will store it away.

I will be thinking of this set all winter long!

I have big plans for the floor in this porch….but I am not sharing yet.

As I mentioned before, I have the same chairs, 5 of them. My Mom Carole ( not my birth mom but mom by luv) gave the set to me. She passed away 2 years ago, so they mean even more to me now. The table has the same leaves and vines on the legs and a wooden top. ADORABLE!!! I want to recover the seats and back of mine… the design by no means match my decor, but they matched Mom’s. Torn….. will some day.
Needless to say, I luv your find Anne!
    Hugs, Gee

Just gorgeous! I love the table in fact we have one like it but stored away, we used it on the porch before I got a bigger table. The chairs are really neat and love how you painted them.

Your table and chairs are fun.
I can’t imagine waiting until spring to enjoy them. Will your screened porch be weather proofed so you can enjoy it during the winter?

Anne-What a great set. I thought at first you were going to say the chairs were curbside but that was worth the price-they look absolutely beautiful with that table. Nice job all the way around- xo Diana

What a great deal, Anne, and clever idea to paint the seats over. They look great in your yard, so I’m sure it’s hard to put them away all winter. It will be fun once you ‘find’ them again in spring!

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
