Grain Sack Table

August 6, 2013

I have had Miss Mustard Seeds paint in grain sack for sometime now and have wanted to use it and finally had the opportunity to try it out on a table I found recently.
This summer I have not been fortunate enough to visit many garage sales. We have been super busy and have not had the time. Our summer break is nearing the end!
But very a couple of weeks ago I scored big at a garage sale.
One of the pieces was this medicine cabinet I found for 20.00.I thought that was a great price.Love the patina on this.

I added this to my Creative space HERE

And at that very same garage sale I spotted this piece too.

table1

Not very attractive I know. But for 3.00 I knew I could make this shine again. It was missing a knob.

The one that is on this piece is one I added from my collection of hardware I always have on hand.
That’s the reason the seller told me she was parting with it…..because she did not like the handle.

I guess she did not realize it is pretty easy to switch out !

One of the reasons I fell for this piece was the oval inset on this door.

After I cleaned this piece up I simply painted it with Miss Mustard Seed milk paint in Grain Sack.

This is such a pretty color. It looks white but on this piece it is a very soft faint creamy gray color.

I added this to my bedroom.

The piece I had in here no longer fit after my changes.I was going to repaint it.But when I found this piece I knew this would work perfectly in this spot!

Am I the only one that really hates cords….of any sort and kind!

Hence the reason I have that little milking stool and basket full of lavender bags.

Yes it does balance out this space but is also hiding a outlet and phone jack.

Don’t you love the patina!

I wanted to keep this simple but it needed something.

I added this firkin with some dried hydrangeas from my garden.

My hydrangeas are late blooming this year. They are just now starting to bloom!

My vintage screen is the perfect backdrop too.I just added some burlap to the screen and tied it to the posts with twine.

Oh and I love my boots!

That turned out just great, Anne. I have still not played with milk paint! (I used it back in the 70’s but then we only used it on raw wood). That’s funny about the cords- I mentioned them in my blog today, too. They drive me nuts- xo Diana

I am exactly like you, I make sure I hide plugs and cords. I am struggling with a lamp placement right now because of the cord showing.

    Your vignette is lovely.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
