HOW TO TRIM YOUR OWN HAIR

April 6, 2020

HOW TO TRIM YOUR OWN HAIR

I was due to get my hair trimmed a few weeks ago as the coronavirus struck. Luckily I’m a former stylist so I’m able to trim my own hair until I get into see my stylist. Many of you are probably wondering what to do to get by until you see your stylist. So today I’m going to share some tips along with a video tutorial on how to trim your own hair.(this post contains affiliate links. Please see disclosure policy)

USING THE RIGHT TOOLS

If you decide to trim your own hair you’ll need to use the correct tools. One of those tools is a pair of hair cutting shears. Please do not attempt to trim your own hair using your kids craft scissors or your kitchen scissors. Hair shears blades are different and are made specifically for trimming and cutting the hair.

You also want to use a hair cutting comb which is again specifically for trimming and cutting the hair. You don’t want to use a huge comb that you use for detangling the hair. A spray bottle is helpful as well but you can cut your hair dry.

When you trim your own hair you’ll want to use a towel around your neck or wear an old shirt. It’s going to be covered in your hair which can be washed off. If you use a towel make sure it’s snug against you. I’ll explain this more in the video.

NOW’S NOT THE TIME

This is not the time to give yourself a new hairstyle. If you don’t know what you’re doing you can really mess your hair and it will be a bigger mess for your stylist as she may have to cut more of your hair off to even it out. My advice is to only trim a little off of the ends. You’ll be helping your hair stay healthy but you won’t be messing up your style.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
