New Treasures

August 4, 2015

I just added new treasures to the shop, and since I haven’t shared what’s new in the shop in sometime now, I thought today I would.

I also want to mention one more thing about the survey, but fist let’s take a look at what’s new in the shop.

White lace cottage shabby chic treasures shop (25 of 41)

I’ve had this French basket for many years.

I bought it from a dear friend of mine, but since I am slowly downsizing I am letting it go.

I have used it for my dried hydrangea’s, and pumpkins and much more.

It’s a bit tattered, but oh so perfectly Shabby Chic!

I love collecting silverware, I have been for years.

These pieces are part of my collection that I am letting go.

Yes it’s very mismatched.

It’s an interesting collection, many pieces have monograms, and one even says United with the United Airlines symbol.

I can’t imagine how old it was, they don’t serve first class in airplanes as they once did.

I was lucky to have experienced first class once in my life.

I think it was 16 years ago just after my daughter was born.

September 11th and the economy changed all of that.

I don’t think there are many first class flights any longer.

And I am sure they don’t use real utensils as they once did.

Several months ago I came across this old fish cutlery set.

The celluloid handles caught my attention.

Some of the pieces are worn, but it’s still a lovely set.

I think these may be from England, the stamp looks English to me.

I was giddy to find this special treasure.

It’s a vintage hand painted trash can.

The blue is a soft grey blue or French blue.

It’s full of chippy paint, some rust, scratches, it’s perfectly imperfect!

This is my last set of tarnished silver goblets.

I have enjoyed displaying these and using them as vases as well.

One last thing about the survey, and I won’t say another word 😉

Thank you again for taking the time to fill out the survey.

And for giving me your honest answer.

I think many of you thought I was upset about so many of you choosing that I share less recipes.

But, I am not upset at all, actually I found it really funny 🙂 that recipes was chosen in such a high number LOL!

And I am not taking any of it personally, and I appreciate all of your sweet comments.

So, 98% of you would like me to keep things the way they are, and 2% would like a change.

I will be keeping things the same, but sharing more projects and DIY.

I always wanted this blog to be about sharing.

Sharing ideas, and helpful tips, hints and tricks for decorating on a budget vintage style.

And that’s just what I will do.

Occasionally I will share a personal story.

I  think sharing something about me, let’s you know a little more about me and who I am.

I’m also going to start sharing videos occasionally.

You will get to see me and hear me 🙂

Occasionally, may share an out of this world dessert recipe!

When you come here I want you to feel as though we are sitting down with a cup of coffee or tea chatting.

The way I write, is how I speak.

I know a few of you were concerned that I would change.

Well, I am here to tell you that I am not changing.

I can’t, I am who I am.

Let me share a little story about a friend of mine, many years ago.

She opened a beautiful vintage shop.

It was filled with amazing vintage chippy pieces.

But each time I would visit her amazing shop I noticed that she was starting to fill her shop up with new pieces.

The cool vintage pieces became less and less.

And one day I asked her about it, she told me that customers were coming n requesting new items.

She wanted to make her customers happy so she started selling new pieces in her shop.

And little by little her shop was no longer unique.

It wasn’t her style.

And then….her shop closed.

She wasn’t happy because she was trying to make everyone else happy.

She lost herself and her style.

It was many years again until she re-opened the shop.

And when she did, she didn’t listen to what everyone else wanted, but she did what felt right and what she wanted.

So please don’t think I will be changing my blog.

I know you all come here because you feel a connection to me and my style.

I am not changing and neither is the is blog.

But I do want to share more posts on things that will help inspire you.

It’s most likely the reason you came here in the first place.

I want to thank each one of you for visiting and commenting.

Glad you’re not changing Anne! So many times in my life I didn’t follow my instincts and it was always a mistake!. You can’t please everyone all the time. You have a loyal following because of who you are and what you do. Yours is the only web site I visit every day. I love everything Paris, shabby chic, chippy, old, pink! I use my mismatched china plates and mismatched cutlery every day! Sincerely, Susan from Victoria, BC Canada

    Hi Anne,
I love that you share about yourself, eg: the menopause issue.
It’s funny about your friend & her shop.
I had a gorgeous vintage furniture & homewares shop, which I was quite definite about having most things old, which they were.
I sold a few new things, but not much.
I sold the shop & the new owner has brought in more & more new stuff, which I don’t like & a lot of my friends say they don’t go in there anymore, but I figure that she knows her market, & I think she’s doing well.

I guess it depends on the market and the area Philippa. But you stayed true to yourself. And I think that’s key.

I love your blog and your style. One of the dangers of changing to suit the crowd is that you become just like everyone else. And that’s why I love reading your blog – you are your authentic, unique self and you stand out from the crowd. I love that you share beautiful pictures but that you also share your struggles. I like knowing just a little about the real person behind the gorgeous interiors. I never knew you shared recipes in the past, I’d like to see some. 🙂 Of course you’re also a fellow Disney/Orlando fan so how could I not love you? My “moving to Orlando” dream came to an end so I’m definitely on the sidelines cheering for yours! jonni

Thank you Jonni! And you are one of the reasons I love blogging! I always enjoying reading your comments and interacting with you. Thank you so much! And a huge bonus… you are a Disney freak like I am 😉

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
