Fabulous Furniture Friday Feature

June 12, 2015

I would like to introduce you to our new feature.

It’s called Fabulous Furniture Friday Feature.

I’m hoping that this will be a new weekly event.

This week I am beyond thrilled to introduce you to this super talented lady,  Mary Ellen, from The Junkie Monkey.

I was thrilled to have discovered Mary Ellen and her talents one day on Facebook as she was sharing a

few pieces that she painted using my signature paint colors.

Mary Ellen’s talent blows me away, wait until you see some of the gorgeous pieces she has painted!

Take it away Mary Ellen….

Hi, my name is Mary Ellen Crawford, from The Junkie Monkey.

I have a booth in The Shoppes at Rivertown, an antique mall in historic downtown Deland, FL.
I sell both heirloom traditions and Debi’s DIY from there.

I also sell DIY, painted furniture and misc items from Garrett Brothers Eclectic Home Decor in St.
Augustine, FL.

I have always had a “thing” for furniture but didn’t start buying and selling until June 2012.
I’m pretty much self taught when it comes to painting.
I have never been to a class, seminar or conference.

I’ve  read a few blogs,  if it’s something I thought was cool and I’ve watched a couple videos but that’s
about it.
I came across Heirloom Traditions on Craigslist last fall.

I had tried several other brands and even made my own chalk type paint.
I ordered the dealer sample kit and really liked the paint, and thought it would be awesome to have so
many colors, so I became a dealer just after thanksgiving 2014.

One of the first things I saw on the dealer page was one of your blog posts and thought “man, how
does she figure this stuff out!?

So creative!”  Soo…. A month or 2 ago I saw you had some colors.
I ordered a quart of each color.
First I did a vanity in French butter and white lace.
 Loved it!!

Then I painted a desk in vintage green with white lace accents and most recently an antique chest of
drawers in posh pink and white lace.

My next White Lace Cottage project is a dining table and 6 chairs dated 1916.
I already bought some pretty fabric for the chair seats and my plan is to paint the chairs in chippy blue
and the table in white lace.
I was laid off from my job of 25 years in February so I am trying hard to make my passion my living .

My BFF, Laurie does 98% of the FB posts and 100% of the Instagram posts.
She also creates Craigslist ads, helps me stage my booth and searches CL for unique items she thinks I
will like (or that she wants to see me paint 😉 !
I really don’t think I’d be as successful as I have been if it wasn’t for her.
*******************************
See I told you that Mary Ellen is super talented.
Each of her painted pieces is a beautiful work of art!
Thank you so much Mary Ellen for being a part of the first Fabulous Furniture Friday Feature.
You can follow Mary Ellen AKA, The Junkie Monkey on her Facebook page, Instagram and on Pinterest too.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
