Vintage Pink

April 7, 2013

How do you feel about pink?

I don’t mean just any pink but vintage pink.

DSC07596shabbychipppink

You know like this pink.

A little tattered…faded….rusty and…..chippy.

With a little bit of white peeling off.

DSC07583chippypinkscalevintage

You know how much I LOVE  white!

But lately I have been starting to add just a bit more pink to my home.

Mostly in my kitchen.

About a year ago I found this old scale.

DSC07567vintagepinkscale

Only it was all pink.

So I thought I should paint over it white!

WHAT!?

Yep that’s what I said I painted it white.

I knew when I was painting it I would later regret doing that.

Yesterday I decided I wanted to the pink back.

I tried sanding it off well it did not work.

DSC07575vintagewhiterustyscale

I wanted to strip the paint off without stripping it off all.

I had some of those Mr.Clean magic erasers and decided to try that.

Well it worked!!!

I love this old vintage pink showing through the white!

And that little bit of rust too!

I love the petite leaves on this plant.

Plants are another way to bring color and life into your home.

Have you ever painted anything and regretted doing so?

Glad I was able to change this back.

I actually like it better with the white too!

Another great use for those magic sponges. I guess that’s why they’re call magic. I love the scale with the white and the pink showing through. Looks like it aged naturally like that.

Looks good with a touch of both colors. You know how much I love weathered and worn. Some of my favorite effects were mistakes I attempted to correct.

Wow, you invented a new paint technique without even trying! I do love vintage pink, but with a house full of male folk I don’t use it. I was dreaming the other day, if I ever had a guest bedroom with an adjoining bathroom I would love to use a pink toile shower curtain in there. Anyway…back to your scale. It is so pretty! I love the chippy look that you’ve achieved!

I love it and I love those magic eraser sponges. Oh yeah, several painting regrets, but they’re outnumbered by the painting projects that were good choices.

Pretty in pink! and of course I’ve regretted paint jobs!! I’m looking at two of them right now. Wonder how many coats of paint I can actually put on a piece of furniture…

It makes such a gorgeous vignette! Glad you were able to change it back. Aren’t those magic erasers the invention of the century?! Definitely goes in a time capsule! LOL
    Fabulous job as always.

Great job recovery some of that pink! I love the way it looks with the white “worn” away. The fresh green of the plant is a really pretty touch, too!

Your scale turned out perfect! I love the pink showing through. Isn’t it funny how we change our mind about things? Sometimes I leave things the way they are for a bit–just in case I change my mind!

What a sweet scale! The pink and white work so well together! One of those “happy accidents”. I love pink but don’t have any all pink rooms. I love to use the color as little happy accents here and there – so cheery! Hugs, Leena

I love Cece Caldwell’s Portland Rose and we are working on an armoire with that color over Vintage White.

We will be doing the plant stand I bought 16 years ago at the ROCKFORD ANTIQUE MALL. It has pieces of antique dishes on top of it. Will do it just the Vintage White color. We just did a small teacart and a small tilt top table pink. Mostly we are doing white.
