Vintage Ice Cream Bucket

March 28, 2013

Still enjoying my time with my daughter this week thought I would share another post that you all may not have seen the first time around.

First I wanted to thank you all for your sweet comments.I am feeling much much better today thank you.

We went  out today with some friends and did a little fun shopping !

I have been searching for an old wood ice cream machine ever since I spotted one on Becky’s blog Buckets of Burlap .

I also spotted one on Rusty Hinge .

I love that old Handy freeze ice cream bucket.

I have found a few.But I was not willing to shell out lots of money for one.

So what’s a vintage loving girl like me to do???

Well find an old one and make it special yourself!!!

Here it is.This started out looking like this.

Not my style. But the price was right!

I would love to have an authentic chippy old one.

But this will do.

It is old but I needed to make it more my style.

I had some left over paint from another project.

I did not create any chalk paint it is just regular old flat latex paint.

After painting it I sanded it down.

This was already rusty so the paint brought it out even more!

This sanded down nicely.

Love the worn look almost looks authentic.

I love this look in my kitchen.

And it was super easy to do!

Right now I am displaying  some of my wood cutting boards and bread boards in this!

DSC05223cuttingboards

Keep your eyes open next time you are in a thrift store or garage sale.

You may come across on of these that can be transformed with just a bit of paint!

I love the wood things you’ve filled your ice cream maker with AND the pretty rose painting hanging next to it. It looks like spring. 🙂

Hi Anne, what a cutie and you really did a great job painting it. We used to have homemade ice cream every summer. Only once or twice because it was always special. My Dad would stand and crank that thing and we kids couldn’t wait to lick the paddles. I have never tasted ice cream like it since and don’t know what happened to the bucket but it would have been something special now..Happy Wednesday..Judy

What a great idea. If you hadn’t shown the before photo I probably would have thought it was always so lovely. It looks amazing with the flowers, you can never have too many flowers, but truth be told I’m loving it filled with all the wood items it makes the bucket pop!

Anne, your ice cream bucket looks so pretty! Those old ice cream buckets are costly but I did get lucky last week and found one that was affordable. I have it in my booth but if it doesn’t sell, I’m bringing it back home for me…LOL! I’m sorry that you were not feeling well but happy that you’re feeling better. Enjoy your daughter and I hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter. Hugs, Gail

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
