Pure White French Provincial

November 13, 2012

This French provincial dresser was not a piece I had previously in my home.I found it at the thrift store for 3.00.Yep that was the price!
But as the guy was helping me out with it to my car he dropped it! Not a surprise I sort of have that kind of luck!
Because of this I  was given a refund so it was free!! I did not ask for the refund he felt bad and insisted!

I fixed the chipped piece and you cannot even tell it was broken. This was painted black and had no hardware. But luck would have it…yes finally a little good luck………!
I would find the perfect drawer pulls at a yard sale for a total of 1.20. And yes that is for all for all of them!
I painted this Anne Sloan pure white with a dash of old white.Love the creamy look!
The ironstone bowl and pitcher was also found at a thrift store.I think I paid 2.00 for the set.The mirror also a thrift store purchase of 1.99 already painted. That little stool goes to my bed set.

I decided not to paint the drawer pulls but keep them as is.I love the contrast with the white!

And yes those are the same roses I have been sharing with you.Aren’t they gorgeous! LOVE these and they are my favorite too!So pretty tucked in my ironstone bowl.Of course just for photos!Wish I could keep them just like this!

They are so pretty they almost look fake!
Busy again today getting things done for my daughters party.I have some surprises I hope I can pull off!
Hope you are having a good day!

Wow, Anne, I know it was bad luck that he dropped it, but I think it worked out to be good luck getting it for free! You’d never know it had a chip in it. Beautiful and I love the mirror above it, too.

Anne, this is amazing! What a wonderful piece! I love your vignette; it is lovely! You found some amazing things for so little! Our thrift stores have gotten so high now; it’s very difficult to find anything.

I’d say luck is on your side! Your piece turned out lovely!

I left this same piece at my daughter’s college apartment a few years ago because I didn’t want to take it home. A young girl moving into the same building kept it….for free, also. I wonder where it is now and if it’s been transformed too!

SO pretty! Silly me, I don’t think I would have thought to paint a piece like that when I have seen them at the Goodwill store! I am always thinking….I want an older look…..But YOU gave it the older look! I will open my eyes wider! Thanks!

If the guy carrying it out would’ve been a collector, he might have charged you for the “distressing” he did. Love the whole look of the corner.

FREE- what a deal! I’ve seen comparable lingerie chests on the net for $700 and up! Then to find your hardware at a yard sale! It was just meant to be. Your chest is really beautiful. Is it in the same room as your large linen armoire?

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
