Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint Linen

November 8, 2012

I have been dying to try Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint.I ordered this awhile back and it finally arrived a few weeks ago.
This is not my first time using milk paint.Marian from Miss Mustard Seed shared using milk paint on her blog a year ago. After watching the video about it I knew I had to try it.
I used milk paint on THIS table.
Not Miss mustard seed’s another brand. But I was familiar with using it.

I found this table at a thrift store and this is what it looked like before painting it.

Cute table but the color did not work for my home.
This table is used in my guest powder room.
It is a small room and this table is the perfect size.

Found this ironstone at a thrift store.
I use this to store toilet paper in.
I need to fill’er up!
Don’t you love how chippy and old this looks!

What I love about using this paint is there is very little smell.
You don’t have to sand it  making this nice to use on pieces that have lead paint.
When you are using it without a bonding agent it is fun to see what it will do.You just never know how much chipping/flaking it will do!

Love her packaging! Feels like you are using something really special!

I also tried her wax.I LOVE that there is hardly any odor AT ALL! Normally it smells so strong I cannot use it without a mask and good ventilation.
Goes on wonderful with a wax brush and buffs to a beautiful shine!

Looking forward to using this on another piece and mixing colors too!

Roses were a treat! This week two dozen roses for 6.00 at the market!
Aren’t these gorgeous! LOVE that soft color!

Love this look! I think I need to keep fresh roses in here don’t you?

Off to use this paint on another much larger piece. Will be sharing that soon!

I can’t wait to try this! I have heard from everyone how wonderful the wax is. Every single person is impressed with the smell, or lack of smell maybe:) Now I am really inspired–I want to try this bad!

That looks so good and the perfect amount of chipping. I love when it does that. It looks so natural.

Hi Anne: That table is just adorable. You hear so many recommendations about so many different paint techniques, sometimes it’s hard to know what to do. Right now I’m painting with flat latex paint and doing AS dark wax over it. I have some nicer pieces that I will try the AS paint on to see which works best for me. But I’m loving that little milk paint job..Happy Wednesday..Judy

Like everyone else, I love how you transformed this little table Anne. Is the dark chippy part the original finish showing through or did you do something else to achieve that look? In what way does the milk paint differ from the Annie Sloan Chalk paint?
