My Growing Collection of White Ironstone

October 21, 2012

I have been collecting white ironstone for a year now.It  started out simple and is really blooming into a nice collection. In my living room cabinet I was displaying my rose dishes. Now that I am changing my home I did not like all the pink in that cabinet.I wanted a simpler and cleaner look. Here is a glimpse of the cabinet with my pink dishes  HERE

And this is what it looks like now.

I just found that latest pitcher at a yard sale I will share that in another post.

I really do love this simple look. And the warmth of the wood too.Yes I am painting many things in my home. But not everything.I do want to keep a few wood pieces to add some warmth. This and my antique sewing cabinet are not going to be painted.

Lighting is an issue in this room.Really the best time is in the early morning. But I am not always ready to photograph that early.I shared with you my cabinet that I just painted HERE .But you could see the lighting was bad.I apologize for the poor photo. Here is a better shot although this was taken in the afternoon and I get lots of shadows that time of the day.I do think it is a better photo.

You can see those shadows?
See that green chair? That is getting a makeover very soon!

There’s that shadow!
I should have fixed my sofa skirt it is a bit messed.Pay no attention to my lack of details!

I have to share this with you.At that yard sale that I am going to share in another post I found this sign.

LOVE these old street signs.Especially when they are black and white! Mr. Cottage asked me what is 40th street.I told him I did not know I just liked the sign. And he said if I ever find a 10th avenue to pick it up.If you are a Bruce Springsteen fan you know what that means.

Your collection of white ironstone has really grown! It looks lovely in your china cabinet. I agree that a little bit of wood goes a long way in warming up a room. My house must be HOT with all the old wood finishes. Hehehe.

Everything looks so pretty – each step by step closer to what you want. When I retire we are going to paint many of our pieces – but not everything.

You have a very pretty collection Anne! I agree, as much as I love to paint a piece of furniture I love having wood tones in the mix. That’s such a pretty cabinet!

Love all of your pretties. The street sign is gorgeous. I just got a street sign at Round Top, and mine says “E Fourteenth St.” So looks like I’m a few blocks down from you.

Your white ironstone looks beautiful in the wood cabinet. Lovely contrast of the white against the wood. You have some very nice pieces.

Love the ironstone collection. I have stacks of ironstone platters on the island I use all the time. Plus I stack other items on them for photos. The possibilities, with ironstone, are endless.

    Hi Anne,
I just love your cabinet filled with the white ironstone. And, I have the very same cabinet in my entryway which I did paint this past summer. I love it in the original stain but after 15 years, I decided to go white with it and I do love it. My vintage sewing machine however, like yours, is staying in the original.
Your home is lovely and you sure have a talent for showcasing your treasures. So enjoyed my visit.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Hugs, Celestina Marie

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
