Decorating Mistakes To Avoid!
I thought you’d like a few more tips on what to avoid when your decorating. As a subscriber this is for your eyes only 🙂
- It’s Not A Dump-One mistake that people make is that they turn a dining room into a dumping ground or a kitchen desk..ahem that would be me. Yeah, my desk has looked like a dumping ground. But I’ve gotten better at organizing my desk area so it doesn’t become a dumping ground again. If you’d like a few tips on organizing here’s a great article with lots of juicy tips.
- Your Not Welcome– Well that sounds harsh huh? Just think if I answered the door and said, you’re not welcome here! I know if someone said that to me I’d stomp off crying. Well, actually I’d be mad. The point is that when you enter a home you want to feel welcome. The first room you enter in a home will either make you feel welcomed or have you running for the door. Make this room special. Place a bench or a seat near for someone to take shoes off. Maybe a hat or coat stand. A nice rug, you get the picture. You don’t want to scare your guests off before they see the rest of your lovely home.
- Windows Matter- When your designing your room make sure you consider the windows. This can be very tricky especially if you have a small room with windows. If possible you don’t want to place furniture right in front of a window. It can look over crowded and the furniture will look out of place if it’s placed in front of a window.
- Pillow Faux Pas– I love pillows, they are a great way to add accent colors and dress up a sofa, chair or bed. But you don’t want to get carried away with them either. Too many pillows can end up looking messy. Instead choose a few pillows that will add touches of color and balance out your furniture piece.
Hope these little tidbits help you when your redecorating a room.
