It was good spending time with my family this weekend. On Saturday we had dinner with my husbands family. We don't get together often enough. So nice to chat and catch up on things. My daughter and I spent time baking too.One of her requests was to make her Grandmothers Crescent cookies.Oh my goodness looking at this photo I am noticing how tall my daughter is!I am not wearing shoes and neither is she.....crazy! Thank you to my niece again for making these sweet aprons.Grandmother's Crescent cookie recipe. This is the basic recipe that can be found anywhere. But this is a handwritten recipe and makes it so special.Just thinking she held this recipe card in hand as she baked these delicious cookies. And now sharing it with my daughter. This year I wanted my daughter to do the baking. This is a ... View Post
An Early Christmas Gift…Mary
I am sure you noticed that I have a fondness for Mary statues.I am not Catholic but there is something beautiful about these statues.I have two of these and recently was given one as a gift. After a recent visit with my Mom she noticed my Mary statue in my dining room.Along with my Rosaries she questioned why I have these since I am not Catholic.I told her that I find them beautiful and love to display them in my home. After speaking with her she told me that she had one that she wanted to give me.When she handed this to me she had told me this is one she had since she was a small child. She painted this when she was in kindergarten. But she had it tucked away for years. I asked her why I have never seen this.In all my years of childhood I have NEVER seen this sweet Mary statue. She could ... View Post
Christmas Home Tour
Welcome to my home so glad you could stop by.Before we start the tour would you like some hot chocolate? That little vintage honey jar is filled with homemade hot chocolate mix. It will only take a minute to warm it up.Would you like some marshmallows or candy canes in your hot chocolate? Since we are already in the kitchen why not start the tour here. In keeping things simple I used lots of fresh tree greens. In my cups and small pitchers on my French bottle rack I added some fresh roses and greens too.Love that pop of red and white looks so festive.A bowl of fruit add a bit of color too. As you can see I hung some aprons on the wall from a hook.Love the pop of color. These are a gift from my sweet niece. She made these! One for me and one for my ... View Post
The Smell of Christmas in the Air
Today I'm finally getting started on my holiday baking. This year we decided to try a few different recipes. One of them is for cinnamon biscotti.I have never made biscotti before but decided to try it this year.I am making lots of batches to give out as gifts this year. Most of our presents this year are homemade.Let me tell you our home smells heavenly with the smell of cinnamon and sugar. That dish is vintage I found it recently at a thrift shop.It is restaurant ware. Love the gray and white colors. It has a french look to it. Another wonderful thing we made today was cinnamon roasted almonds...YUM! The fragrance from these almonds is wonderful too! These are a delicious treat that will also be going out as gifts! This is just the beginning of our baking. We have lots more to do.The recipes ... View Post
No Glitz No Glam Christmas
Keeping it really simple this Christmas season no glitz or glam around here just using what I have and nature as my inspiration. This is our petite tree we have in our family room this year.No lights no ornaments just as is.I placed it in a vintage sap bucket and added that number 3.I also wrote Joyeux Noel Merry Christmas in French.I love the reflection of this in my vintage mirror hanging on that door. This year I decided to hang our stockings on my ladder in our dining room. These sweet crochet stockings were all found at a thrift store last year. A very simple center piece. Some fresh Christmas greens with a few scattered bows for a little bit of color. The silver platter and mirrored pedestal add a bit of sparkle.I am sure you noticed some changes on my blog.I needed to clean it up a ... French Charm Bedroom Reveal
When I first started blogging almost a year ago I had no idea I was about to transform my home.I was happy with the way it was at the time until I saw photos on my blog and realized my home was not really a reflection of myself. And slowly I have been changing things the way I have always wanted them to be.Years and years ago before the white look was popular I was quite fond of it.But I was afraid to jump in and change things.I feared it would cost too much and maybe I would decide I would not like it.All the while in my mind I wished I had an all white home.Last February I made some changes in my bedroom. They were subtle changes and it sparked an idea that changed my whole home.I recently painted my pine bed.I used Miss Mustard Seeds paint the color is linen.I used this on my bed and ...
