French Grain Sack Table

I have been experimenting with different looks and techniques as I have been getting ready for the vintage market.

I don’t like doing the same thing on every piece.

Each one is different and unique.

I just do what strikes my fancy.

I decided to do a French grain sack table.

This technique is nothing new I have seen it before but never tried it myself.

I  painted the table with  Annie Sloan French linen.

A stripe was added using TAPE  and  deco art paint in uniform blue.

No ruler was used to make sure the tape was straight  I  just eyeballed it

I did not want it to look perfect.

I added a French graphic from the graphic fairy using the citra solv technique.

Before waxing it I sprayed a clear sealer to prevent the graphic from smearing off.

Okay this is one of those pieces I hate to part with.

But I must this will be going to the vintage market.

I have to give a shout out to Bre at Rooms for rent for sharing my feature from Blogger Homes !

Thank you so much!

  1. Very pretty, Anne! Love the stripe and the graphic. I am way to shaky to freehand, so when I do stripes I have to tape them off.

  2. Well I can see you’ve been as busy as the energizer bunny! Your table is a real winner! Just darling!

  3. OMGOSH Anne, I just love it! I would snap that piece up in a minute. You did a great job on it- xo Diana

  4. This is the first time you’ve tried a transfer technique? Well it definitely looks professional to me. You did a fantastic job on that sweet table! I hope you take lots of pictures of your treasures after you set up your display, because they won’t last long!!

    • Oh no Vickie just the first time making a grain sack table.Yes I have used the transfer method.Thank you so much!I am planning on taking lots of photos. But I won’t have a booth. All the venders goods will be mixed in.It will look like a big beautiful shop!

  13. Hi Anne
This is another winner! My goodness your talent has no end I know you will do so good at the market. Everything so far is so pretty and unique. I wish I were going to this fabulous show. Sorry that junk bonanza is the same week end :( . Take lots of pictures to post.

  14. Another lovely piece Anne. Imagine if we kept eveything we’ve ever made… that would be a lot of crafting and probably shock us with how much money we’ve spent on craft supplies over the years – lol.

    • I know so true! The good thing about resale is that I can keep a piece and let go of another until I find something else I want and so on and so on LOL!

  15. Wow – it looks fabulous and I am totally amazed that you drew those lines freehand!
    Liz @ Shortbread & Ginger

    • Thank you Liz! No I did not draw those lines free hand I used tape but did not use anything to see how straight I was.

  16. Anne, your little table turned out beautiful! You did an awesome job with transferring the graphic using the Cita Solv technique. I have never had much luck with technique. Hugs, Gail

  17. That is so sweet! I love the graphic you chose…. I even have a pillow on my couch with the same one. It would be so fun to go to your show… they never seem to have things like that around here.

  18. Anne,

I love this table, it s so beautiful. I will have to try this method.
